Barney Baker, PE
President and Principal Engineer
Barney Baker founded Baker Design Consultants in 1996 after an international career with the firms of WA Fairhurst & Partners (Edinburgh, Scotland) and TY Lin International (Falmouth, Maine). As Principal Engineer, Barney personally supervises all of the firm’s projects with hands-on involvement from start to finish.
With over 30 years of experience as a Civil Engineer, Barney has expertise in the planning, permitting, design, and construction administration for new developments in addition to the repair of existing facilities. His portfolio of structural projects includes bridges, buildings, piers, marinas, boatyards, boat/barge ramps, sea walls, coastal walkways, and bulkheads. Barney also has extensive experience with projects that address stabilization and protection of the coastal shore with erosion control measures that include beach nourishment, plantings, and soft and hard armor revetment solutions.
Barney Baker is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maine, a Maine DOT certified Local Project Administrator, and an active participant in numerous organizations that represent Maine waterfront and islands.
Barney is an avid sailor with coastal and offshore experience on both sides of the Atlantic. At one time, he maintained a USCG 50 ton license. He cruises the Maine coast each summer on his 32-ft Sabre sloop.
Morgan Clements, EI
Morgan is a recent University of Maine School of Civil Engineering graduate with a focus in geotechnical engineering, hydrology and transportation. As a graduate engineer, Morgan assists with all types of projects and does much of the drafting work.
Morgan’s recent completion of studies at UMaine, ability to thrive in a team environment, and strong interest in marine and coastal engineering projects allow her to assist well with many projects at Baker Design Consultants.
Morgan holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine and is an Engineer Intern in the State of Maine. She has interned with TY Lin International as an Inspector General, and has worked as a Research Assistant on concrete strengths at the University of Maine.
Outside of engineering, Morgan enjoys playing music and being outdoors.
Tyler Cutts is a Survey Technician who attended White Mountain Community College for Spatial Information Systems. His degree focused heavily on surveying, geology and soils, and geographic information systems. Tyler also received a technical degree in computer drafting. Since college, Tyler has worked in wide variety of surveying and construction fields, focusing primarily on boundary surveying, topographic surveying, construction management, detailing, crew/department coordination, drafting, and site development. Tyler works part time at BDC, spending the other portion of his work week surveying for a local survey firm.
With a wide range of knowledge, Tyler brings an eye for detail and a tenacity for work while at Baker Design Consultants.
When Tyler is not at work, he enjoys being outdoors and enjoying time with good friends.
